Fire rated doors shall be installed in accordance with NFPA 80
"Standard for Installation of Fire Doors and Windows."
- Trimming for height not allowed.
- Surface-mounted hardware must be attached with through-bolts unless reinforcing is included.
- A maximum 1/8”/3.2 mm clearance between the frame and door (or leaves of pair) is allowed.
- Additional edge seals are not required for positive pressure assemblies.
- For the [S] mark: "SMOKE AND DRAFT CONTROL RATING REQUIRE THE USE OF A LISTED CATEGORY "H" SMOKE AND DRAFT CONTROL GASKET."
- Astragals are required on all pairs.
- Installation of vision panels shall be per NFPA 80 and per the installation instructions of the glazing suppliers and vision kit manufacturers.
- Glazing shall be listed and labeled for use in fire doors.
- Vision kits shall be listed and labeled for use in fire doors.
Any deviations from these installation instructions will void the fire rating.
